‘Mussolini: Son Of The Century’ Trailer: Joe Wright Biopic Series Of Infamous Fascist Leader Arrives September 10 On MUBI

Filmmaker Joe Wright, after tackling Winston Churchill in the biopic “Darkest Hour,” is tackling another infamous political figure from that era, Benito Mussolini, the Italian fascist leader, who aligned forces with Nazi Germany during World War II and was responsible for some of the most brutal abuses of power in the country’s history that will be explored in “Mussolini: Son of the Century.”

A new trailer for the series has made its way to us as the show is set to debut on September 10 and will be streaming exclusively on MUBI in regions such as North America, Latin America, Belgium, Luxembourg, Turkey, India, and New Zealand.

Written by Stefano Bises (“Gomorrah – The Series,” “The New Pope,” “ZeroZeroZero”) and Davide Serino (“The King”), it is based on the bestselling book by Antonio Scurati, with Wright directing the eight-part historical series.

The show’s official logline from MUBI:

An audacious eight-part portrait of Benito Mussolini’s ruthless rise—from socialist journalist to Italy’s fascist dictator.

Italian actor Luca Marinelli stars in the upcoming streaming series as the titular dictator, as he recently appeared in Netflix‘s “The Old Guard 2” alongside Charlize Theron and Hideo Kojima‘s acclaimed video game “Death Stranding 2: On The Beach,” as a key superpowered character sporting a military look that fans quickly noticed was very similar to Snake from “Metal Gear Solid.”

“Mussolini: Son of the Century” hails from a producing team that features Sky Studios and Lorenzo Mieli for The Apartment Pictures (a Fremantle company), in co-production with Pathé, in association with Small Forward Productions, in collaboration with Fremantle, Cinecittà S.p.A., and Sky.

MUBI is also releasing the Wong Kar Wai series, “Blossoms Shanghai,” in the West, which is due for release in 2026 after becoming one of the most popular shows in China.
