Updated: Full Trailer For Peter Jackson's 'Lovely Bones'

Update: Full trailer is out (via JeffWells).Gotta say the full thing looks a lot better than we initially anticipated. The effects are still “Alice & Wonderland”-ish and perhaps a bit too over-the-top, but we’re definitely not as put off as we originally thought.

Earlier: Finally. Hasn’t Peter Jackson’s “The Lovely Bones” been finished for months? Either way, Entertainment Tonight, by way of Trailer Addict, has given us our first look at footage from the film. Apparently they’re going to reveal the full trailer tomorrow, so this is just a quick tease.

The special effects look admittedly weird, perhaps corny and even unintentionally funny (what, is Tim Burton directing this?), but it’s hard to judge and “Heavenly Creatures” is still our favorite Peter Jackson film, which had a great mix of drama and fantasy, so we’re hoping the picture is definitely of that flavor.

An adaptation of Alice Sebold’s celebrated novel, this picture surely seems to have Oscar on its mind. Starring Saoirse Ronan, Susan Sarandon, Stanley Tucci, Mark Wahlberg, and Rachel Weisz, it tells the story of a young girl who is brutally raped and murdered, then watches over the aftermath from heaven. Ambient music legend Brian Eno has signed on to score the film. Not all was peachy in the beginning though. Original star Ryan Gosling was reportedly fired from the film after putting on too much weight and agitating Jackson with his acting peculiarities. Production had to shut down at one point to complete lengthy special effects. All and all it sounds like a complicated film birth.
