New ‘Transformers One’ Trailer: Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson & More Voice The Next Animated Adventure

How did friends become bitter enemies? The surprising story of Optimus Prime and Megatron is revealed in “Transformers One.” This animated prequel shows the iconic characters working together to save Cybertron. Using the fictional planet as its setting has some fans recalling the ‘80s classic “The Transformers: The Movie,” but producer Lorenzo di Bonaventura sees a stark difference between them. “They’re so not comparable because that’s so dark, and this has so much humanity,” Bonaventura told Variety. While a teaser arrived in April, a new trailer was revealed today as part of the film’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con.

The film is directed by Josh Cooley, who previously directed Toy Story 4 and contributed to the Pixar films “Inside Out” and “Up.” “Transformers One” is based on a story by Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari and has a screenplay by Barrer, Ferrari, and Eric Pearson

Chris Hemsworth leads an all-star cast that includes Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm. Hemsworth takes on the role of Prime, a duty previously reserved for legendary voice actor Peter Cullen. The choice to go with Hemsworth mainly came about to convey a youthful Prime

TRANSFORMERS ONE is the untold origin story of Optimus Prime and Megatron, better known as sworn enemies, but once were friends bonded like brothers who changed the fate of Cybertron forever. In the first-ever fully CG-animated Transformers movie, TRANSFORMERS ONE features a star-studded voice cast, including Chris Hemsworth, Brian Tyree Henry, Scarlett Johansson, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, with Laurence Fishburne, and Jon Hamm.

Steven Spielberg, Zev Foreman, Olivier Dumont, Bradley J. Fischer, B.J. Farmer, and Matt Quigg serve as executive producers on “Transformers One.” The film debuts in theaters on September 20. Get your first look at the trailer below.
