Halloween is still a couple of weeks away, but Hollywood is using Friday the 13th to drop some cinematic treats. 20th Century Fox revealed their horror twist on Marvel with “The New Mutants” trailer, Netflix dropped the final trailer for “Stranger Things” season two, and now Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross are getting in on the fun.
The Oscar winning duo behind the score for David Fincher‘s “The Social Network,” and who recently tuned up Ken Burns‘ “The Vietnam War,” have unveiled their cover of John Carpenter‘s iconic “Halloween” theme. Running nearly eight minutes long, it lifts the keyboard trill from Carpenter’s “Michael Kills Judith,” adds a dose of scratchy atmosphere, before eventually galloping into the familiar theme. It’s pretty great stuff, and already has some fans calling for the duo to score David Gordon Green’s upcoming sequel.
