Got a Tip?

‘Tuca & Bertie’ First Look Video Shows What Happens When You Combine Tiffany Haddish, Ali Wong & ‘BoJack Horseman’

There are various ways you can sell the idea behind Netflix’s upcoming animated comedy series “Tuca & Bertie.” It comes from the mind of one of the folks behind the incredible “BoJack Horseman,” Lisa Hanawalt. “Tuca & Bertie” are voiced by comedians Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong, respectively. However, the premise is probably not going to entice anything other than confused faces.

As seen in the new featurette released by Netflix, showing clips and behind-the-scenes hilarity from “Tuca & Bertie,” you find out that the series follows two “30-year-old bird women” as they deal with typical life problems. Yeah, that’s a strange premise, but what else would you expect from one of the folks behind ‘BoJack?’

However, by the end of the featurette, you’re probably going to be excited, as you laugh at Haddish’s wild Tuca and Wong’s terribly conservative Bertie, especially if you like any of the comedic output from these two ladies. Sure, Haddish is basically playing the same character that she plays in most of her films, but honestly, that’s just her. Like it or don’t, you can’t fault Haddish for playing herself when possible, because honestly, it’s damn funny. And Wong might not have the star power that her co-star has right now, but her comedic chops are just as strong.

Without a doubt, “Tuca & Bertie” is probably going to be the funniest series to ever spin-off from someone’s viewing of a nature documentary. The series hits Netflix on May 3.

Here’s the short synopsis:

They’re relatable, fly AF, and just happen to be bird women. From creator Lisa Hanawalt and the creative minds behind BoJack Horseman, Tuca & Bertie, starring Tiffany Haddish and Ali Wong comes to Netflix on May 3.
