Things are looking up for actress Vanessa Kirby. After sidekick appearances in films like the recent “Mission: Impossible – Fallout” and the ‘Fast & Furious’ spin-off “Hobbs & Shaw,” the actress has taken her newfound star power and decided to come back down to earth a bit for her next feature, as she’s working with an acclaimed director on a new film titled “Pieces of a Woman.”
According to Variety, Kirby is in negotiations to star in “Pieces of a Woman,” which is set to be directed by Hungarian filmmaker Kornél Mundruczó. The film’s plot is still unknown, but the report claims that the feature will explore the life of a woman attempting to deal with the aftermath of a tragedy. ‘Pieces’ is based on a script by Kata Wéber.
As mentioned, Kirby is probably best known for her roles in the aforementioned ‘Hobbs & Shaw’ and ‘Fallout.’ However, before she was kicking ass on the big screen, the actress won a BAFTA award and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy for her role on the Netflix series “The Crown.” She also recently appeared in the Berlin-premiering film “Mr. Jones” and the upcoming “The World to Come,” co-starring Casey Affleck.
“Pieces of a Woman” is directed by Mundruczó, who is best known for his previous films “White God” and “Jupiter’s Moon,” which were both critically-acclaimed based on their premieres at the Cannes Film Festival, where the former won the Un Certain Regard Prize. The filmmaker has previously worked with Wéber on both those films.
No word on when filming for “Pieces of a Woman” might begin, but considering the filmmaker’s recent history at Cannes, we can probably look at that festival as a potential destination in the future.
