‘Venom: The Last Dance’ Trailer: Tom Hardy Does One Final Symbiote Tango This October

Most details about Sony’s forthcoming third, “Venom” film, titled, “Venom: The Last Dance,” have been kept under wraps, but one thing we do know, as the title suggests, this installment is the final edition. Sony’s Tom Rothman, in a recent interview, said ‘The Last Dance’ would be “The third and last Venom, is going to be huge,” he told Deadline.

What else do we know? Well, obviously, Tom Hardy returns one last time for the final installment as reporter Eddie Brock and the anti-hero Venom, the human constantly battling himself and the symbiote inside him. He’s joined in the film by Juno Temple in an undisclosed lead character, with Chiwetel Ejiofor and Clark Backo also in major roles.

It seems like Michelle Williams has moved on, but Stephen Graham is back as Patrick Mulligan, the detective who had hoped to use Eddie to find the remains of Cletus’ murder victims in the previous film, “Venom: Let There Be Carnage.”

“Venom: The Last Dance” is directed by Kelly Marcel, the screenwriter of all the “Venom” films, and she makes her directorial debut with this final film. Incidentally, Tom Hardy is credited as the co-writer of the movie with Marcel, seemingly showing his hands-on approach to the character.

A new trailer has arrived, and it obviously peels back some of the layers and reveals some of the plot.

Here’s the official synopsis:

In Venom: The Last Dance, Tom Hardy returns as Venom, one of Marvel’s greatest and most complex characters, for the final film in the trilogy. Eddie and Venom are on the run. Hunted by both of their worlds and with the net closing in, the duo are forced into a devastating decision that will bring the curtains down on Venom and Eddie’s last dance.

For one, it seems as if Temple is Hardy’s new love interest in the film, and Ejiofor is one of the symbiote villains that will be part of the movie. “The Last Dance” is also rumored to involve a young Peter Parker, but it’s unclear and seemingly doubtful that Venom will crossover with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man despite the brief tease in “Spider-Man: No Way Home.”

That might post-credits scene might be the real tell, however. While ‘The Last Dance’ is certainly Tom Hardy’s last film, the black ooze symbiote was left behind in the MCU, and it’s been rumored to appear in the upcoming “Spider-Man 4.” So Venom could live on, just not in the form we’ve known over these past three films.

Either way, Sony Pictures Releasing has set “Venom: The Last Dance” for October 25. Watch the new trailer below.
