In his first public statement since sexual battery allegations against him in December, Vin Diesel said he’s sticking with the “Fast & Furious” franchise and confirmed the next film is its last. He did not address any misconduct or the lawsuit brought against him.
Late last year, a civil action filed against the star alleged the “Fast & Furious” star forcibly groped and molested former staffer and plaintiff Asta Jonasson during the production of “Fast Five” in the fall of 2010. Some speculated this could derail the final installment of the “Fast & Furious” franchise, but Diesel suggested all was good and moving forward regardless.
Some had also speculated that “Fast & Furious” could go on past its eleventh film, but Diesel has seemingly confirmed this next film is the end of the road, at least for him.
“Just finished our end of the week ‘Fast’ meeting with the writers and the whole team … To say the excitement for our finale was incredibly powerful is an understatement,” Diesel said in his Instagram post. “This grand finale is not just an ending; it’s a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together,” he added. “Hope to make you proud!”

“Just finished our end-of-the-week’ Fast meeting’ with the writers and the whole team… to say the excitement for our finale was incredibly powerful is an understatement,” Diesel wrote. “Wow. So exciting… While everyone was heading into the weekend amped and excited, I thought of you all… reminded of the countless moments when your enthusiasm and passion became the driving force behind our creative journey. Your commitment to our saga has had a unique impact on its success and evolution… as my youngest daughter would say, it’s profound. Thank you for being the backbone of this global saga that because of you, transcends the screen. This grand finale is not just an ending; it’s a celebration of the incredible family we’ve built together.”
At the time of the allegations, Diesel issued a denial through his attorney, Bryan Freedman, and said the allegations were untrue.
“Let me be very clear: Vin Diesel categorically denies this claim in its entirety,” the statement said. “This is the first he has ever heard about this more than 13-year-old claim made by a purportedly nine-day employee. There is clear evidence which completely refutes these outlandish allegations.”
So far, Universal or producers on the film haven’t commented either, and everyone seems to be moving forward like it’s business as usual. Currently, “The “Fast and Furious” finale is scheduled to be released on April 4, 2025. Despite Diesel’s long-running feud with Dwayne Johnson, the actor appeared in the post-credits sequence for last year’s “Fast X,” seemingly paving the way for his character to return in the finale. Louis Leterrier (“The Transporter,” “The Incredible Hulk“) stepped into the director’s chair to replace Justin Lin on the last film, and he is signed on to helm the series’ 11th and final film.
