'Bad Monkey': Vince Vaughn To Star In Apple TV+ Series From 'Ted Lasso' Co-Creator

Though it’s fair to say Vince Vaughn never really went away, you could argue that his A-list status has diminished over the past decade, as he has become pickier regarding his roles, often appearing in indies like “Brawl in Cell Block 99” and “Dragged Across Concrete” or straight dramas like “True Detective.” But last year, we saw him show up in “Freaky,” a major Blumhouse horror film, as well as the Hulu comedy film, “The Binge.” And for his next project, Vaughn might be leaping back into the mainstream in a big way with “Bad Monkey.”

According to THR, Vince Vaughn has signed on to star in the upcoming Apple TV+ series, “Bad Monkey.” Based on the best-selling novel from Carl Hiaasen, “Bad Monkey” tells the story of a former detective who is now a restaurant inspector in Southern Florida that gets dragged into a major investigation after a severed arm is found by a local fisherman.

Adding to the mainstream appeal of “Bad Monkey” is the fact that it comes from creator Bill Lawrence, who is probably most known over the last couple of years as the co-creator of “Ted Lasso,” the most celebrated show on Apple TV+. He’s also the creator of series such as “Scrubs,” “Cougar Town,” “Spin City,” and “Ground Floor.” Clearly, this is a guy that Apple TV+ wants to keep around, as “Ted Lasso” is a massive Emmy favorite and has already picked up a ton of awards.
