Vince Vaughn has already made us laugh time and time again, but rarely has he made us cry? Well, according to executive producers Scott Mednick and Andrew Rouleau, that may just happen with the actor’s upcoming “Delivery Man.” Yes, it’s a movie about a man who accidentally fathers over five hundred children thanks to a sperm bank mixup, but apparently it’s got some other more serious notes and tones in the mix. “The Vince that we met versus the ‘Swingers’ Vince is a different guy,” Rouleau told Variety. “He’s an adult, very mature. Not fast-talking Vince. He has children. This performance, I think, is more emotional, deeper, than he’s ever done.”
Color us surprised, as the first official clip from the movie is definitely giving us the Vaughn we’re more than familiar with. Here he shares a scene with “Parks & Recreation” star Chris Pratt, who pays his best bud, as he reacts to the news that he’s a father of kids well into the hundreds. What on Earth could he possibly do for them now? Well he’s got an idea…
…and speaking of ideas, Vaughn is kind of ready to leave comedy or even dramedy behind for the moment. After getting dropped by Universal a couple weeks back, THR reports that QED International and Worldview have revived “Term Life” slated to star Vaughn alongside Hailee Steinfeld. Penned by A.J. Lieberman (and based on his own graphic novel) and set to be directed by Peter Billingsley (“Couples Retreat“), the twisty plot finds Vaughn playing a crooked criminal on the run with his daughter from mob bosses, dirty cops and more. Filming will take place in 2014 and yeah, that certainly is a long way from “Swingers.”
“Delivery Man” opens on November 22nd.
