When it rains, it pours, it seems. So, when the trickle of new “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery” cast members begins, it really does start to flood with names. Now, not even a day after Andrew Scott was announced, we got yet another name for the list: Kerry Washington.

According to Deadline, Washington is joining the ensemble cast of “Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery.” She’s joining the cast, which already includes Andrew Scott, Cailee Spaeny, Josh O’Connor, and, of course, Daniel Craig as Benoit Blanc. The exact plot details for ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ are still unknown at this time.

Washington is probably best known for her TV work on the massively popular series, “Scandal.” From there, she’s starred in a number of projects, including “The Prom,” “The School for Good and Evil,” “Confirmation,” and the limited series, “Little Fires Everywhere.” She also has a number of projects in post-production, including the Tyler Perry film, “Six Triple Eight,” as well as the film, “Shadow Force.”

‘Wake Up Dead Man’ is the third film in the ‘Knives Out’ franchise. What started as a simple mystery film inspired by Agatha Christie turned into a full-blown franchise thanks to a deal Rian Johnson signed with Netflix, which saw him receive $450 million for two more films. ‘Wake Up Dead Man’ marks the second film of that deal, meaning it’s unclear if a fourth film will get made. That said, judging by the reception the first two films have earned, if Rian Johnson and Daniel Craig want to keep working on them, they could make these forever.

A release date has yet to be announced for the film, but it’s expected to arrive in 2025.
