Warner Bros. Dates More ‘Lego’ Movies & Sets Three ‘Harry Potter’ Spinoff 'Fantastic Beasts' Films

The Lego MovieWarner Bros. CEO Kevin Tuijihara is the man of the hour, having just revealed the key details about ten new DC Comics movies up through 2020. There will be two “Justice League” outings, solo films for Green Lantern, the Flash, and much more (full details here). But in addition to that mother lode announcement, Tuijihara also revealed that three "Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them" films (it’s the franchise that’s spinning off from “Harry Potter”) and three more “Lego” movies are on the way. The “Lego Batman” movie we already know about, and it officially now has a May 2017 release date. Moving off that date, and shifting to 2018, is “The Lego Movie 2,” the official sequel to the first film that did gangbusters box-office business earlier this year.

While not specifically dated beyond the year of intention, WB added that ‘Fantastic Beasts’ will have at least two entries in that series, coming in 2018 and 2020. No further details have been released, but does it even manner? WB is throwing the gauntlet down here, trying to assert their movie studio super powers and illustrate to everyone that Marvel is not the only player in town expanding the world engine game.
