Warner Bros. Sets 'Harry Potter' Spinoff 'Fantastic Beasts' For November 2016

Fantastic Beasts And Where to Find Them

It has barely been two years since “The Dark Knight Rises,” yet today Warner Bros. unveiled their new-look Batman—played by Ben Affleck—who will be suiting up to play Bruce Wayne in “Batman vs. Superman” in 2016. So, that’s four years between Christopher Nolan‘s film and whatever Zack Snyder is cooking up (and even less time than between “Spider-Man 3” and “The Amazing Spider-Man,” FYI). Why the rush? Because there’s gold in them hills, and they’re looking to keep the money flowing, and no surprise, WB wants more of those “Harry Potter” riches too.

First announced last fall, and recently established as a new trilogy, the J.K. Rowling-penned “Harry Potter” spinoff series “Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them” now has a release date of November 18, 2016. It’s already been a few years since “Harry Potter And The Deathly Hallows: Part 2” closed off the hugely successful series, and this is a way back in. Kinda. This new saga is said to take place seventy years before Harry even comes into the picture, so you probably won’t see any suggestions of Harry and his pals (at least in the first installment). But given that Hollywood is all about linking universes these days, we won’t be shocked if ‘Fantastic Beasts’ eventually nods to the boy wizard.
