Warner Bros. Will Screen 'The Flash' At CinemaCon This April

For those headed to CinemaCon in Las Vegas this April, take notice: Variety reports that Warner Bros. will screen its upcoming DCEU blockbuster “The Flash” at the event. That’s big news, considering all of the controversy last year surrounding the film’s star, Ezra Miller. And it’s also a big boost for the movie from CEO David Zaslav and DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. Gunn must feel as strongly about “The Flash” as he indicated last month to put a spotlight on the film as big as this.

Then again, maybe it’s not so strange that Warner Bros. plans to screen the long-awaited film. While most studios do new trailers, sizzle reels, and celebrity roundtables at CinemaCon, Paramount previewed “Top Gun: Maverick” at the event last year to huge acclaim. And “The Flash” has also been ready for launch for awhile now despite some reshoots last year. It’s more Miller’s behavior and the general upheaval surrounding the DCEU’s future that delayed the film’s release. Now that Miller is in mental health treatment and Gunn & Safran have a new track for DC content with “Gods And Monsters,” Warner Bros. feels more confident to give “The Flash” a proper push.

CinemaCon runs from April 24 through April 27 in Las Vegas, with Warner Bros. scheduled to screen “The Flash” at the Colosseum at Ceasars Palace on April 25. Last month, Gunn referred to the film as “one of the greatest superhero movies ever made” during his announcement about the DCEU’s future. That’s a strong claim for a movie saddled with so many delays and its erratic lead actor. But Safran emphasized the studio’s support of Miller during the same announcement. “Ezra is completely committed to their recovery,” said Safran, “and we are fully supportive of that journey that they’re on right now.”

After “The Flash” screens at CinemaCon, it hits theaters everywhere on June 16. The film also stars Sasha CalleRon LivingstonKiersey ClemonsMichael Shannon, and Maribel Verdú.  Michael Keaton and Ben Affleck both show up as Bruce Wayne/Batman in the time-bending movie, too. “IT” director Andy Muschietti helms the film.

So will “The Flash” live up to all the hype? CinemaCon gives those lucky enough to go to the event a sneak preview. Check out a trailer for the upcoming film below.
