Watch: 2 Minute Clip Goes Behind The VFX Of The Re-Entry Sequence In Alfonso Cuaron’s ‘Gravity’

With Academy voters entering their ballots next week and the actual ceremony less than a month away, the Oscar race is drawing to a close. No doubt hoping to sway some votes—along with advertising its home video release later this month—one of the visual effects companies behind the striking imagery in Best Picture-hopeful “Gravity” has dropped a short reel breaking down the work behind a harrowing sequence towards the end of the film.

Just over two minutes long, the reel from effects house Rising Sun Pictures showcases the different modeling work and care that went into the final set piece where Sandra Bullock’s stranded astronaut attempts to make her way back to Earth using the Shenzhou vessel.
