A couple years ago, when "Tomorrowland" was still a completely mysterious project in the hands of Brad Bird and Damon Lindelof, there were quite a few rumors swirling around. One of them, was that Nikola Tesla — or at least his ideas and concepts — would appear in the movie. Alas, we won’t know until the movie opens, but this new Japanese trailer for the film certainly does suggest that the filmmakers are drawing upon history’s biggest thinkers as a key part of the movie.
Kicking off with a promo for the "It’s a Small World" theme park attraction, the trailer then dives headlong into the movie, but pauses in the middle when a voice (Keegan-Michael Key?) asks: "What would happen if all the geniuses actually decided to try and change the world?" before flashing Albert Einstein, Thomas Edison, and Walt Disney himself across the screen. And indeed, our own Disney expert, Drew Taylor once pondered if George Clooney‘s role was some kind of riff on Walt Disney himself….
