Watch: All 5 Alternate Endings Of The New 'The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey' Trailer

nullUnless you're living under one of the hugest mossy rocks in the shire of Middle-earth — located in in the large region of Eriador and the Kingdom of Arnor, of course — you're acutely aware that Tolkien nerds the world is celebrating Tolkien Week, which culminated this morning with the appearance of the highly anticipated second theatrical trailer for "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey."

The first in a diptych trilogy of films adapted and directed by Oscar-winner Peter Jackson, who previously brought you the "Lord of the Rings" trilogy, Warner Bros. got a little fancy this morning. They decided to create five different endings for the trailer that you could watch exclusively on www.thehobbit.com. One centering on Gandalf (Sir Ian Mckellen), one focusing on Bilbo Baggins (Martin Freeman), another discussing the sword "Sting" and how it got its name, and two more converging on the dwarves and Gollum (Andy Serkis).

All and all, these clips and trailers have significantly improved the look and feel of "The Hobbit," seemingly blending action with humor. Will that stay true for the actual film? "The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey" opens in 3D and 2D (and 48fps) in select theaters and IMAX on December 14th. Watch the five endings below for more scenes from the film.
