In case you haven’t heard, Arnold Schwarzenegger is smashing shit up for charity. Specifically, he’s using M47 Patton tank and destroying things to support the After-School All-Stars charity. In conjunction with Omaze, the After-School All-Stars and Arnold, a video has been released to promote the charity. The clip was directed by Jordan Vogt-Roberts, the filmmaker behind “The Kings of Summer,” the short, “Successful Alcoholics” and the upcoming live-concert tour documentary “Nick Offerman: American Ham.”
We’ve also got his exclusive director’s cut of the clip which is significantly cooler than the one released today. “I called up Chris Galletta who wrote my movie and asked him if he wanted to write words to come out of Arnold Schwarzenegger’s mouth and help me design things for him to crush in a tank,” Vogt-Roberts told us. “Naturally, as anyone from our generation would, Chris dropped everything and created our weird love letter to the cinema we grew up on. We had less than 72 hours to prep the whole job and we were only given an hour with Arnold but he liked the script and genuinely loved crushing stuff in the tank (it’s his personal tank from when he was in the Austrian army) so he stuck around longer.”
