Watch: Aubrey Plaza Stars In The New Father John Misty Video “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings”

nullFor fans of the folk-minded ensemble Fleet Foxes, who put out their second album Helplessness Blues only a year ago, it may have come as a surprise to some when news circulated that the band’s drummer Josh Tillman had parted ways with that group after such success. It looks as if he’s landed on his feet alright, as a recent LA Weekly article profiling the drummer through a haze of marijuana and Los Angeles dive bars also contains the latest video for his track “Hollywood Forever Cemetery Sings” off his recently released album.

What’s worth pointing out is that fans of “Parks and Recreation” can catch April Ludgate being a little more serious, as actress Aubrey Plaza acts outs in the clip for Tillman – who now goes by Father John Misty it seems – in a video that finds her causing a ruckus at the bohemian funeral of a loved one. There’s dancing, passionate fog-strewn ghost love, and a kidnapping, but regardless it’s fun to watch Plaza act-a-fool and Tillman’s track isn’t half-bad, sounding like a cross between some darker Queens of the Stone Age and The Black Keys lead Dan Auerbach’s solo work.

Tillman released his first album as Father John Misty for Sub Pop records this past Tuesday, and has been picking up some respectable nods from the music press. Plaza will be finishing up her time spent on the excellent “Parks and Recreation” with the season finale next week, and along with roles in recent festival favorites like “Damsels in Distress” and “Safety Not Guaranteed,” we hope she continues this string of fascinating music video appearances with her next being for the group Mouse Rat.
