At 66 years old, David Bowie is showing the kids how it’s done. With a new album on store shelves (where stores still exist), is Bowie going on a wild world tour, talking to every press outlet possible and making appearances wherever he can? Nope. Instead, he’s making the kind of ambitious music videos we used to get two decades ago. Earlier this year he delivered the great spot that featured him and Tilda Swinton playing husband and wife in “The Stars (Are Out Tonight),” and now he’s reteamed with director Floria Sigismondi for another equally memorable promo.
This time around Gary Oldman and Marion Cotillard star in the video, and instead of playing Commissioner Gordon and Miranda Tate, they’re a priest and prostitute (?), respectively, in a bar where Bowie is performing and also a prophet. Things get religious and very, very bloody from there, but it’s a pretty excellent three minutes, with some great visuals (perhaps NSFW though) matching a potent song from Bowie. Who needs coffee? Watch this instead.
