Matt Damon was great in “Inception.” It’s such a shame he didn’t win an Academy Award for his portrayal of the film’s protagonist, Cobb. Makes sense, though, because the film was “just so tedious.”
Such was the response Christopher Nolan’s 2010 summer blockbuster received from filmmaker Joe Nicolosi’s mom. Nicolosi—who wrote and directed the awesome SXSW “Mario” trailer—sat down with his mother, as she watched “Inception” for the first time. He then asked her to recap the film and provide her thoughts on its complicated plot. The result is YouTube gold. (The experiment is a follow up to his wildly hilarious “The Matrix Retold By Mom,” in which Mom questioned Leo’s, aka Neo’s, sexuality.)
Nicolosi’s mom understands…some of the film. She took umbrage with the idea that people can manipulate others’ dreams by getting in their heads, “That whole thing of Inception, I’m really against.” Clearly, she grasped that element, sort of. But her facial recognition of Hollywood’s A-listers leaves a little to be desired. (To be honest, we’re surprised she remembered the protagonist was named Cobb. Even we forgot that about as soon as we saw the film.)
Nicolosi and his mom obviously have fun doing these recaps, even if the films they watch aren’t the most thrilling. Check out “Inception Retold By Mom” below, and be sure to stop over at Joe Nicolosi’s site for more of the director’s work. Happy Friday, folks. [via FilmDrunk]
