Watch: David O. Russells Breaks Down Anatomy Of A Scene For ‘Joy,’ Plus 9-Minute Interview, And More

"I didn’t want to make a story that was a biopic in any place. I wanted to make a larger cinematic fable. What I discovered is it’s much harder to take ordinary people and to show how they are extraordinary," David O. Russell told The New York Times about what inspired him to make "Joy." Critics were divided on whether or not his endeavor was a success, but audiences were happy to check out the Jennifer Lawrence starring movie to the tune of $17.5 million on its opening weekend. And today, we get a little bit more of a peek behind the scenes.

The director teamed with the Times for one of their Anatomy Of A Scene featurettes, breaking down a sequence in which Lawrence’s determined entrepreneur is given a tour of a home shopping channel run by Bradley Cooper‘s character. The actress is then joined by Russell for a 9-minute chat about "Joy" for Film4, and everything wraps up with a new featurette for the film.
