Watch: Explore ‘That Moment’ With 72-Minute Making Of Paul Thomas Anderson’s ‘Magnolia’

MagnoliaAnd it is in the humble opinion of this narrator that this is not just "Something That Happened." This cannot be "One of Those Things… " This, please, cannot be that. And for what I would like to say, I can’t. This Was Not Just A Matter Of Chance. Ohhhh. These strange things happen all the time.

So goes the conclusion of the epic, narrated opening to Paul Thomas Anderson‘s multi-threaded "Magnolia," and it acts as an announcement that what you’re about to see will be both ambitious and unique. And indeed, "Magnolia" is a terrific meditation on life’s little and big tragedies, regrets, hopes and the sometimes inexplicable things than come our way. But as you might imagine, the over three-hour film required a helluva production to put it together, and the video diary "That Moment" (via Cinephilia & Beyond) takes you through every step of the way. From early rehearsals to the actual shoot to screenings of the film, it’s a nice long look at the work PTA put into his film, and will hopefully hold you over until "Inherent Vice."

Speaking of which, Cigarettes & Red Vines has shared the official framing chart from "Inherent Vice," which seems to have been shot in 1.85 aspect ratio, for all of you tech nerds to note. Check out the doc and chart below.
