Watch: Fathers Clash In The New Trailer For ‘Daddy’s Home’ Starring Mark Wahlberg & Will Ferrell

Daddy's Home

Not everything is awards-bait and even the fall has its counter-programming against those oh-so-serious dramas vying for Oscars. Take “Daddy’s Home,” the new comedy from Will Ferrell and Mark Wahlberg, who apparently had such a good time on “The Other Guys,” decided to reteam again. This time they’re doing it without director Adam McKay of course who has got his own movie coming out this season too — ironically a drama that could figure into the awards season conversation.

“Daddy’s Home” essentially centers on the complicated notions of fatherhood as it applies to divorcees who only have weekend custody of their kids. Ferrell stars as the step-dad in a new family with wife Linda Cardellini and Wahlberg stars as the brash, reckless ex-husband who still wants to be part of his kids life. Of course, they are a mismatched pair, Ferrell being the straight guy, Wahlberg the wild man and comedic sparks hopefully do ensue. Here’s the official synopsis:

“DADDY’S HOME” follows a mild-mannered radio executive (Ferrell) who strives to become the best stepdad to his wife’s two children, but complications ensue when their freewheeling and freeloading real father (Wahlberg) arrives, forcing him to compete for the affection of the kids.

Directed by Sean Anders ("Sex Drive," "That’s My Boy”), “Daddy’s Home” arrives in theaters on December 25, up against “The Revenant,” “Joy” and Will Smith’s “Concussion.” Check out the new trailer below.
