If the trailer for “30 Minutes Or Less” didn’t get you excited about what will likely be one of the funniest movies of the summer, this clip from the film will. Jesse Eisenberg plays Nick, a stoner pizza delivery guy who gets a bomb strapped to his chest by two wannabe criminals (Danny McBride and Nick Swardson) who tell him to rob a bank in nine hours or the bomb will explode. Freaked out by the threat of being blown up, Nick goes to the worst place possible: an elementary school to see his best friend, Chet (Aziz Ansari).
The real gem of this clip is Ansari, one of the great rising talents in Hollywood whose routines are some of the most fun to repeat with friends. His role on NBC’s “Parks and Recreation” is a great weekly showcase for the standup comic, but this film will be his biggest exposure to date. “30 Minutes or Less” re-unites Eisenberg with his “Zombieland” director Ruben Fleischer who proved the young actor could do mainstream comedy as well as neurotic teen angst in indie films. And while “Zombieland” and “30 Minutes Or Less” show Fleischer at the top of his comic game, he’s already planning to switch things up with the drama “Gangster Squad” on his plate next.
“30 Minutes Or Less” opens on August 12 and should be at the top of your list of movies to see this summer. Check out the clip below. —Matthew Newlin
