Yesterday, the first look at Stephen Frears‘ long-awaited "The Program" arrived….in German. And I have to admit, I expressed my reservations about the movie which is now approaching two years since cameras first rolled. But now being able to see the trailer again, this time in English, perhaps the wait will have been worth it.
The latest movie from Frears looks to be an admittedly compelling dramatic take on the rise and fall of Lance Armstrong. Ben Foster plays the cyclist who survives cancer and makes a miraculous comeback to the sport, while Chris O’Dowd is the journalist who doesn’t believe the Superman story that’s playing out in the media. Meanwhile, folks like Guillaume Canet, Jesse Plemons, and Dustin Hoffman round out the supporting cast. My pendulum on this one has shifted from cautious to genuinely intrigued.
Still no official U.S. release date, but "The Program"opens in France on September 23rd and in Germany on October 8th. Watch below.
