Watch: First Full Trailer For Batman Prequel Series 'Gotham'

Gotham

Superhero and comic book movies rule the box office these days, so it’s no surprise that networks have been trying to get their own superpower-heavy franchise on the small screen even if most are bust. Anyone remember “The Cape”? One of the most intriguing high-profile, small screen attempts is the Batman-prequel, “Gotham.” The trailer for the series finally dropped last night during “24: Live Another Day,” and we have it for your deconstruction below.

Running over two minutes long, the trailer features quite a bit more of young Bruce Wayne than we would have liked—or assumed, based on the initial logline of “Jim Gordon, rookie detective”—and it seems to point to the murder of Wayne’s parents as unfortunately happening very soon in the show’s life. We can understand the network and creator Bruno Heller’s desire to rush to the important and iconic event since many casual Batman fans may be uninterested in seeing a Batman show that has very little to do with the Caped Crusader, even if he’s still a child at this point.

Little Wayne aside, the other major players get to make appearances in the trailer too, including Ben McKenzie as Gordon (still in his angsty and earnest “Southland” mode), Donal Logue’s Harvey Bullock, Jada Pinkett Smith’s gangster boss Fish Mooney, and some quick glimpses of Batman’s infamous rogues gallery with, yes, a young Catwoman.

“Gotham” will air this fall on Fox. Watch the trailer below. [ScreenRant]
