It speaks to how successful Blumhouse Productions is that they can have a movie with no stars slotted for a major summer release date. The company behind "Insidious" and "Paranormal Activity" has proven they can make films that are very cheap, that scare the hell out of audiences, and reap big box office results. Directed by Chris Lofing and Travis Cluff, who developed the movie on YouTube, of all things (remember what we said about Blumhouse movies being cheap?), the found-footage movie is a high school-set horror about a tragedy that can’t be buried. Here’s the official synopsis:
Twenty years after an accident caused the death of the lead actor during a high school play, students at the same small town school resurrect the failed stage production in a misguided attempt to honor the anniversary of the tragedy — but ultimately find out that some things are better left alone.
"The Gallows" opens on July 10th. Watch below.
