After no shortage of rumors, lots of set photos, a stinger at the end of this summer’s “The Wolverine,” and the return of Bryan Singer to the director’s chair, bringing two schools of “X-Men” together for one massive outing, it’s time to see if this all works. The the first trailer for “X-Men: Days Of Future Past” has arrived.
“Though there is a great deal of humor, the overall tone is a bit darker than previous films, particularly because of the stakes,” Bryan Singer said on Twitter recently. And yet, even with all that teasing, there is still much to discover about the latest mutant movie. We do know that Patrick Stewart, Ian McKellen, Hugh Jackman, Michael Fassbender, James McAvoy, Jennifer Lawrence, Halle Berry, and Nicholas Hoult will all roll together to some capacity, but how exactly they’ll cross paths and how serious the threat to them is, has largely been kept quiet—until now. Here’s the (vague) official synopsis:
The ultimate X-Men ensemble fights a war for the survival of the species across two time periods in X-MEN: DAYS OF FUTURE PAST. The beloved characters from the original “X-Men” film trilogy join forces with their younger selves from “X-Men: First Class,” in an epic battle that must change the past—to save our future.
But this new spot answers some questions, shows off a good portion of what’s to come and generally hopes to get you excited for this. Well, are you? Does this massive team-up work? Tell us below! ‘Days Of Future Past’ opens in the future on May 23, 2014.
