Watch: First Trailer, Images & Poster For '[REC] 4: Apocalypse'

REC 4: Apocalypse

Hey wait, they’re still making these? In case you missed out on the barely there sensation, in 2007, Jaume Balagueró and Paco Plaza turned horror heads with their riff on the found footage genre, “[REC].” It was reasonably effective take on the style, and it caused enough of a stir that two years later Hollywood dropped a remake that no one really cared about. But the original franchise kept going with “[REC] 2” dropping in 2009, followed by “[REC] 3: Genesis” in 2012. And now another installment is coming, “[REC] 4: Apocalypse,” with Balagueró back behind the camera for this time since the first sequel, and it looks like not much has changed.

This time around Manuela Velasco, also returning from part two, is back in the lead, with the story now relocated to an oil tanker (!?) where some untrustworthy doctors have unleashed the virus packing undead once again. It seems like another excuse to contain a lot of freaky stuff in one enclosed environment, which probably helps with the budget too. Yep, there will be blood and gore and probably some cool kills, but holy hell, haven’t we seen this three times already? But hey, as long as these keep making money, they’ll probably keep coming.

No domestic date yet, but ‘REC 4’ arrives in Spain on Halloween. Watch below and check out some pics and a poster.
