Watch: Go To The French Alps In ‘Les Miserables’ Featurette & Check Out The Oscar TV Spot

nullPerhaps the most interesting aspect of “Les Miserables” was that the actors were actually singing as they were being filmed, a fact that was further brought to light thanks to a four-minute featurette that was released a few months before the film came out. Now we get yet another featurette on "Les Miserables," this time showing us what it was like for the crew to be shooting in the Alps.

The two-minute clip shows the film crew navigating the foothills of the Alps, hauling their gear up a mountain to get ready for the next shot, in the freezing winter cold. Sounds like a blast. In all seriousness, while it’s not quite as fascinating as the first featurette, it’s still worth the watch just to see how gorgeous the surrounding area is where they filmed Jean Valjean in a scene that takes place early on in the movie. And it should silence those who lob the lazy accusation at the movie that it's all shot in closeup.

In related news, looks like the film’s recent Golden Globes success and eight Oscar nominations has emboldened Universal to start airing a brand new TV spot. The fifteen-second spot proudly touts the film's biggest Oscar nominations, which include Best Picture, Best Actor, and Best Supporting Actress. While the film’s box office appears to be going strong still, it never hurts for a studio to take advantage of their film’s recent awards success.

“Les Miserables” is still out everywhere in theaters.
