While there is a plethora of fantastic movies headed to Toronto this year, only one will have the distinction of kicking everything off at TIFF and the honor in 2012 goes to Rian Johnson's "Looper." And indeed, it will give audiences at the festival a helluva ride to start off ten days of moviegoing madness.
A new international trailer has dropped for the movie, which features a voiceover by Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character, which establishes the rules and structure the film will play by. To recap, JGL plays a hitman whose assignments are sent to him from the future, but when he's tasked with killing his older self, he's forced to go on the run. There are a lot of sizzle shots in here, so if you want to go in fresh, you may just want to avoid this altogether. But spoilers or not, this looks like some pretty thrilling, ambitious stuff and frankly, we'd expect nothing less from Johnson who has shown he loves to push the boundaries of genre when given half the chance.
Co-starring Bruce Willis, Paul Dano, Emily Blunt, Piper Perabo and more, "Looper" jumps into theaters on September 21st. Watch below. [ScreenRant]
