While on the surface "Dragon Blade" might seem like a piece of camp perhaps better suited for a straight-to-DVD release, you might be surprised to learn that the movie has already earned a rather surprising $116 million in China. And while the claim in this latest trailer that it’s a "worldwide phenomenon" might be a bit much, perhaps there’s more than meets the eye to this one.
The unlikely lineup of Jackie Chan, John Cusack, and Adrien Brody star in the movie that follows a Roman soldier on the run who crosses paths with a former Chinese guard who has become enslaved. Here’s the official synopsis minus the clunky line readings of the trailer:
When corrupt Roman leader Tiberius (Adrien Brody) arrives with a giant army to claim the Silk Road, Huo An (Jackie Chan) and his group of trained warriors teams up with an elite legion of defected Roman soldiers led by General Lucius (John Cusack) to maintain the delicate balance of power in the region. To protect his country and his new friends, Huo An gathers the warriors of thirty-six ethnic nations together to fight Tiberius in an incredible epic battle.
