You gotta give Kevin James his due. He knows his niche, he knows his audience, and he doesn’t feel the need (yet) to prove himself as a dramatic actor. If his career will be made from jokes about eating and falling into things, well then, he’s just going to do the best job of that as possible. And so, here we are with "Paul Blart: Mall Cop 2." And the first trailer has arrived.
We’re now five years from when the original movie turned out to be a bigger hit than expected ($183 million worldwide), and James’ big screen status has risen since then thanks to the likes of "Grown Ups." So Sony is expecting a bigger haul than last time, and appropriately, the setting for the sequel has been beefed up as well. Here’s the official synopsis:
In this sequel, in which Kevin James reprises the role of Paul Blart, the security guard is headed to Las Vegas to attend a Security Guard Expo with his teenage daughter Maya (Raini Rodriguez) before she departs for college. While at the convention, he inadvertently discovers a heist – and it’s up to Blart to apprehend the criminals.
Again, this isn’t rocket science. This isn’t even swinging for fences. It’s like playing golf and trying not to make a three-putt on the green. "Paul Blart 2: Mall Cop" goes on duty on April 17th. Watch below.
