Geez, Toby Jones can't catch a break can he. First he plays Truman Capote in "Infamous" only for Philip Seymour Hoffman to steal his thunder with "Capote," and now just as HBO's "The Girl" is set to debut in a few weeks with him in the role of Alfred Hithcock, Fox Searchlight makes a late game announcement that their own "Hitchcock" starring Anthony Hopkins in the lead will be headed into theaters this fall. Will he be overshadowed once again? Let's hope not because it looks like he's put together a fascinating turn.
A new "About The Movie" feature has arrived, and it's a pretty good little EPK. It reminds us that Sienna Miller is essentially playing three roles here: Tippi Hedren, and then her characters in "The Birds" and "Marnie." And all told, this will be at once a story about the making of two movies, but also about the dynamic between Hitchcock and his leading lady whom he tried desperately to possess. And as we'll see, when he doesn't get what he wants, he can be come very, very cruel.
The reliable Julian Jarrold ("Red Riding: 1974," "Becoming Jane") directs and the film itself is based on the book "Spellbound By Beauty" by Daniel Spoto, whose title should pretty much say it all. "The Girl" premieres on Saturday, October 20th at 9 PM.
