A new clip from the (hopefully) upcoming Jack Abramoff biopic “Casino Jack” has been revealed via the Epoch Film’s website (they represent the film’s director George Hickenlooper).
In the scenery chewing clip, Spacey as Abramoff practices a spirited defense of his shady dealings as he brushes his teeth. While we’re still not digging the tone of the film, the filmmakers are feeling confident and its being prepped for an Oscar season October release, but just don’t expect it from previously announced distributors Metropolitan.
Deadline reports that in a situation that sounds very similar to that which has stalled the North American release of “I Love You Phillip Morris,” the film’s financier Rollercoaster Entertainment has rescinded the deal made with Metropolitan to distribute the film citing a default of payment on the eight figure deal made for the film earlier in the year. CAA will be screening the film tomorrow in Santa Monica for potential distributors and is still hoping to get a new deal in place for a fall release.
