It seems in 2012 so far, movie audiences are choosing grim fare. "The Devil Inside," "Contraband," "Underworld: Awakening" and "The Grey" all topped the box office, with "Safe House" coming in a close second last weekend. But if you're looking for something lighter on your next trip to the multiplex, "Wanderlust" should fit the bill.
Set to open next weekend, Universal has dumped a plethora of goodies including two clips and a new red band trailer along with a healthy batch of images, and all this to say, the movie looks like the kind of fun we'd expect from a Judd Apatow produced, David Wain directed, Paul Rudd starring joint. Co-written by frequent Wain collaborator Ken Marino, the film centers on a married couple (Jennifer Aniston, Rudd) who attempt to escape fast-paced modern, big city life by moving from New York to a commune. Of course, their hangups are put to the test by the free wheeling, free loving hippies. So yeah, it's your typical fish-out-water-scenario but frankly, that's Rudd's speciality in trade and we can pretty much watch him do that in anything. And add to that a pretty decent supporting roster including Malin Akerman, Ray Liotta, Alan Alda, Justin Theroux, Joe Lo Truglio and yes, Marino as well, and we're game.
"Wanderlust" opens on February 24th. Check out everything below. [Break/Funny Or Die/Popsugar]
