When the biggest ringing endorsement for a movie you can muster is that it’s from the director of the Cameron Diaz and Ashton Kutcher vehicle "What Happens In Vegas," you might want to rethink your approach. At any rate "How To Make Love To An Englishman" (known domestically as "Some Kind Of Beautiful"—both titles are sort of terrible) has that factoid and the charm of its leads trying to make their way through this material to ride on and the first international trailer has arrived.
Pierce Brosnan, Jessica Alba, and Salma Hayek star in the movie about lothario poet who settles down with a hot, much younger woman, all the while pining for her older sister. Yep, it’s beautiful people having hardly relatable and very contrived problems. Here’s the official synopsis:
By day, Richard Haig (Pirece Brosnan) is a successful and well-respected English professor at renowned Trinity College in Cambridge. By night, Richard indulges his own romantic fantasies with a steady stream of beautiful undergraduates. But Richard has grown tired of the game and is looking for something more meaningful and lasting. So when Kate (Jessica Alba), Richard’s tanned, athletic, 25-year-old American girlfriend tells him that she is pregnant, Richard is thrilled. He looks forward to having a family of his own, being a father his children could be proud of, not some sex-fueled bobcat. There is only one problem. Richard’s not in love with Kate. Richard is in love with Kate’s sister, Olivia (Salma Hayek). He had been in love with her ever since he first saw her. Pierce Brosnan, Salma Hayek and Jessica Alba star in this romantic comedy about a hilariously mixed up family, and the love and loyalties they share.
"Some Kind Of Beautiful" hits DirecTV on July 23rd and opens in limited release on August 21st. Watch below.
