Watch: Teaser Trailer For 'The Dark Knight Rises' Officially Hits

So interwebs, was it worth the wait? After days of speculation about when it would arrive with trailer descriptions being posted and the spot being leaked to the web early, “The Dark Knight Rises” teaser trailer has finally, officially arrived and it’s somewhat underwhelming despite the great premise which casts Bruce Wayne as a reluctant hero, not eager to put on the mask again.

Nearly half of the trailer is made of footage from “Batman Begins” (Bruce Wayne walking up to Ra’s village along with a voiceover from that film) and “The Dark Knight” (Jim Gordon smashing the bat signal; a shot of the Batcycle), and is punctuated by some boilerplate text, while the other half features Gary Oldman lying in a hospital bed pleading for Batman’s return. And it closes with Batman squaring off against a massive Bane and that’s about it. Compared to the teasers for the preceding films, this one is distinctly less memorable — “The Dark Knight” teaser that was nothing but dialogue is still more thrilling than this one. But these are the days when stills are released before filming begins (please see “The Hunger Games“) and campaigns must be started early, but it seems the rush to cobble something together has taken the inspiration about of it.

“The Dark Knight Rises” hits on July 20, 2012. Check out the teaser trailer over at Facebook in HD or below (embed courtesy of RopeOfSilicon). Oh yeah, there’s a brand new poster too.
