Got a Tip?

Watch The First 5 Minutes Of ‘The Man Who Fell To Earth’ Series Starring Chiwetel Ejiofor & Naomie Harris

We’ve seen a ton of reboots, remakes, and revivals on TV in recent years. Though “The Man Who Fell to Earth” Showtime series seems like a remake, on paper, the series falls in a unique category of a pseudo-sequel.

With “The Man Who Fell to Earth” premiering at this year’s SXSW Film Festival, Showtime has gone ahead and released the first five minutes of the opening episode on YouTube. This serves as an extended teaser for the series that is set to debut next month with Chiwetel Ejiofor leading the cast. The series follows the story of an alien visitor who arrives on Earth with a mission to save the world and meets up with a scientist.

Joining Ejiofor in the cast of the sci-fi series includes Naomie Harris, Jimmi Simpson, Clarke Peters, Rob Delaney, Sonya Cassidy, Joana Ribeiro, Annelle Olaleye, and Bill Nighy. “The Man Who Fell to Earth” is created by Alex Kurtzman and Jenny Lumet

As mentioned, “The Man Who Fell to Earth” is set up as a sequel of sorts to the original novel and film. In the series, Nighy plays Thomas Newton, the character from the original source material (played by David Bowie in the film). It appears Newton is responsible for the latest visitor to arrive on Earth to finish the mission he started decades before.

“The Man Who Fell to Earth” debuts on Showtime on April 24. You can watch the first five minutes of the premiere below.

Here’s the synopsis:

Based on the Walter Tevis novel of the same name and the iconic film that starred David Bowie, THE MAN WHO FELL TO EARTH will follow a new alien character (Ejiofor) who arrives on Earth at a turning point in human evolution and must confront his own past to determine our future.
