How did COVID forever change one small town? Eddington, New Mexico undergoes a rapid transformation towards chaos, violence, and catastrophe in “Eddington.” The anticipated film focuses on two officials with very different perspectives on the pandemic. Their conflict sets off a chain of events that forces every citizen to choose a side, whether they like it or not.

The project hails from acclaimed filmmaker Ari Aster. His notable horror projects, “Midsommar” and “Hereditary,” explore various aspects of the human condition. “Eddington” marks yet another examination. This time, topics such as social media’s influence on society offer innumerable storytelling options.
Aster assembles another cast of talented performers for his new film. Joaquin Phoenix and Pedro Pascal star as the sheriff and mayor at the center of it all. The upcoming title marks another collaboration between Aster and Phoenix after 2023’s “Beau is Afraid.” Pascal’s filmography is rapidly collecting a list of impressive directors, with Celine Song’s “Materialists” set for a June release. He can currently be seen in Ridley Scott’s “Gladiator 2.” Emma Stone, Luke Grimes, Austin Butler, Deirdre O’Connell, Micheal Ward, Clifton Collins Jr., William Belleau, Cameron Mann, Matt Gomez Hidaka, and Amélie Hoeferle co-star in “Eddington.”

In May of 2020, a standoff between a small-town sheriff (Joaquin Phoenix) and mayor (Pedro Pascal) sparks a powder keg as neighbor is pitted against neighbor in Eddington, New Mexico.
