The Marketing Rises. In case you missed it, this morning brought with it a brand new trailer for "The Dark Knight Rises" with more epic looking stuff to stoke the flames of anticipation. But what if you wanted to bring some of the BRAAAHM yourself?
Warner Bros. and co. give you a chance with their “Imported From Gotham City” campaign that allows U.S. residents to choose from an assortment of audio, video, and graphics stems — a two-second clip of Bane kneeling here, a crash of Hans Zimmer's score there — and then remix them into a 25-second clip, after which the best submission will be chosen by Christopher Nolan himself, and the creator flown to the sequel's New York premiere. Not bad, eh?
Another fresh TV spot has also been released to give contestants a suitably flashy template to perhaps draw from, but one element that unfortunately remains unique to the contest is Chrysler's involvement, or rather fan introduction to the wonders of product placement. A good half of the video stems consist of the Chrysler 300S sleekly cruising around the streets of Gotham City, just begging for a talented editor to find some possible way to make its inclusion work. The rest of the clips are all scenes glimpsed before, but taking a close second look at Wally Pfister's cinematography is never a chore.
For years now, enthusiasts have been creating their own incredibly impressive trailers and images of Nolan's Batman universe, so if you feel like adding your own submission to the trilogy's marketing legacy, why not give the contest a shot? [ComingSoon/SlashFilm]
