Watch: Thrilling Trailer For Hit Sundance Documentary ‘The Imposter’

nullWow, what on Earth is this? A trailer for the Sundance documentary “The Imposter” has landed online and it looks absolutely fascinating. The documentary (which also includes large portions of recreated footage) is described as “an original film experience that walks the razor’s edge between true-crime documentary and stylish noir thriller” – and after watching that first trailer we’d be at pains to disagree.

The film tells the story of 13 year-old Nicholas Barkley from Texas who disappeared without a trace, only to resurface three and a half years later in Spain telling the tale of having survived an ordeal of kidnap and torture. But suspicions start to be raised that this person may not actually be Nicholas at all, despite his family seemingly accepting him. The trailer seems to play it all up as a mystery, but reviews have stated that it’s all revealed pretty quickly and that the real mysteries lay deeper within the doc’s shocking narrative. And indeed, when we saw it in Park City back in January we called it a "remarkable and entertaining" film that leaves you with a lot to think about.

Take a look at the trailer, and see if you don’t join us in putting this right at the very top of your most anticipated documentaries of the year list. "The Imposter" will hit theaters on July 13th. Watch below.
