Watch: Trailer For Amy Heckerling’s ‘Vamps’ Starring Alica Silverstone Sucked Dry Of Any Comedy

nullHow the mighty have fallen? Going from "Fast Times at Ridgemont High" and "Clueless" to this…goofy and dated-feeling vampire comedy, "Vamps," feels kind of depressing for filmmaker Amy Heckerling. Why? Well, other than looking like it belongs from another era this quote unquote, "cheeky, fresh comedy about two eternally young party girls navigating the dating world in the Big City" looks like it's "Clueless" blandly blended with supernatural creatures du jour (eg. vampires) but without anything inspired or funny to say about it.

It also doesn't bode well that the film hits DVD the day after its limited theatrical release on November 2nd, but hey, maybe you feel differently and hell, that's your pregrogative. Starring Alicia Silverstone, Krysten Ritter, Sigourney Weaver, Justin Kirk ("Weeds"), Dan Stevens (Matthew Crawley from "Downton Abbey") “Curb Your Enthusiasm” regular Richard LewisMalcom McDowell and Wallace Shawn, "Vamps" just looks a little too silly for our taste, but maybe those per screen averages will prove us wrong the weekend of November 2nd. Heckerling surely still has her supporters and yes, she's made some classics, but this one does not look like a return to form.
