Watch: Trailer For Dreadful 'Passion Play' Starring Mickey Rourke, Megan Fox & Bill Murray

Passion Play,” starring Mickey Rourke, Megan Fox and Bill Murray, was the worst film we saw at TIFF last year (though Dustin Lance Black‘s “What’s Wrong With Virginia” comes a close second) and early candidate to top our worst of 2011 list this year. Our man on the ground called it “a cliche-riddled, risible and utterly painful experience that boasts hallmark sentiments and TV movie-of-the-week sensibilities mixed in a disastrous attempt to make a love story about unearned redemption.” And most critics agreed with that sentiment. It was the directorial debut of screenwriter Mitch Glazer and it’s sure to be his last time behind the camera for a long, long, while.

Well, with the star power in the film Image Entertainment decided to take a chance on the film, picking it up for a baffling seven figures and with an actual theatrical release around the corner, a trailer has dropped for the film which should sate any desire you may have had to see Rourke “play” a trumpet. The film is a fairy tale-like story about a down-and-out jazz trumpeter (Rourke) who goes on the run with a mysterious angel-looking woman with wings named Lily (Fox) and runs afoul of a gangster played by Murray and comes across an absurdly dressed Rhys Ifans. We’d like to say this is one of those “so-bad-its-good” scenarios, but it’s not. It’s just plain bad.

“Passion Play” hits theaters in limited release on May 6th before quickly hiding on DVD on May 31st. Trailer below as well as the poster. [Entertainment Tonight via /Film/EW]
