Watch: Trailer For ‘Journey 2: The Mysterious Island’ A Reminder That Michael Caine Still Likes Money

Of his starring role in the legendarily awful "Jaws: The Revenge," the great Michael Caine famously said, "I have never seen it, but by all accounts it is terrible. However, I have seen the house that it built, and it is terrific." For the veteran actor's next film, "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," the sequel to the 2008 surprise hit "Journey To The Center Of The Earth 3D," we hope he's happy with his new summer home.

The original film's lead Brendan Fraser couldn't be tempted to return (when the star of "Furry Vengeance" won't do your movie, you're probably in trouble), so instead adventurous teen Josh Hutcherson of "The Kids Are All Right" and the forthcoming "The Hunger Games" is accompanied by his step-dad, played by Dwayne 'The Rock' Johnson, on a trip to find his grandfather (Caine), who's gone missing on a search for the titular island from Jules Vernes' classic tale.

They're accompanied by Luis Guzman, as Hispanic Comic Relief Character No. 241, and "High School Musical" star Vanessa Hudgens, as Hutcherson's love interest, and the quintet are soon trapped on the island as a volcano goes off, and have to fend off a host of CGI creatures copied and pasted from a low-budged SyFy movie.

In fairness, it doesn't look quite as cheap as the first film did, although it does suffer from the trademark Walden Media let's-light-the-shit-out-of-everything appearance. And it's got trump cards up its sleeve in the shape of the always-reliable Caine, and Johnson, who gets two genuine laughs in the clip, and is roughly four hundred times more charismatic than Fraser. Plus fans of Luis Guzman bukkake will be delighted by one shot in the trailer. But there's certainly not enough to get us into theaters without being under duress.

"Cats and Dogs: The Revenge of Kitty Galore" helmer Brad Peyton is at the helm of "Journey 2: The Mysterious Island," which lands in theaters on February 10th, when we can at least guarantee it won't be the worst 3D kids flick around, thanks to the simultaneous release of "Star Wars Episode One: The Phantom Menace 3D."
