After starting production in the fall of 2010, Nick Cassavetes’ ensemble film “Yellow” now has a teaser online in advance of its TIFF premiere. The film, written by Cassavetes and lead Heather Wahlquist, follows “a youth substitute teacher (Wahlquist), who hallucinates her way through the drudge and grind of everyday life by fantasizing about parallel realities” and has a Vicodin addiction.
Cassavetes has amassed quite the ensemble for the drug drama, something he has done previously in films like “The Notebook” and “Alpha Dog,” which include previous collaborators, like his mother Gena Rowlands, Ray Liotta and Ethan Suplee as well as Sienna Miller, Melanie Griffith, Lucy Punch, Riley Keough, Max Thierot and David Morse. From the looks of the trailer, it seems like this could be Cassavetes’ most ambitious and experimental film to date, miles away from safer fare like his last directorial outing, the weepy Jodi Picoult adaptation “My Sister’s Keeper.”
