Watch: U.S. Trailer For Miguel Gomes’ Epic ‘Arabian Nights’ Trilogy

Starring Adriano Luz, Americo Silva, Carloto Cotta, Crista Alfaiate, Fernanda Loureiro and Rogerio Samora, the film is very loosely based on the classic collection of fairy tales, using them to launch into a commentary on the state of affairs in contemporary Portugal. Here’s the official synopsis:

"Arabian Nights: Volume 1, The Restless One" opens on December 4th, "Arabian Nights: Volume 2, The Desolate One" opens on December 11th, and "Arabian Nights: Volume 3, The Enchanted One" lands on December 18th, all at the Film Society of Lincoln Center. Watch below.

Update: here’s the fairly different U.K. version which quotes our own Oliver Lyttelton.
