Cardboard props, bright colors, a poppy buzzy song that’s practically coated in sugar? Yep, sounds like the right ingredients for a video directed by Michel Gondry.
As we await the stateside release of the newly edited “Mood Indigo,” the French filmmaker has gone behind the camera for UK band Metronomy, to direct the video for their (incessantly, almost obnoxiously) repetitive “Love Letters.” The concept is simple but as always executed with flair, with Gondry’s camera moving in 360 around the band, shooting them through various backdrops, as they play on with through their vintage gear. It’s charming enough stuff, and if you’re a fan of Gondry, it’s right in his familiar wheelhouse. Check it out below.
