Got a Tip?

‘Watchmen,’ ‘Game of Thrones’ & ‘Barry’ Top Final 2020 DGA Awards Nominees

After a potential television nominee was mistakenly omitted and members were asked to recast their ballots, the Directors Guild of America can finally release the final nominees for the 2020 DGA Awards.  That means we now know who was recognized in the Dramatic Series, Comedy Series and the almost all-encompassing Variety/Talk/News/Sports – Specials categories.  And, as expected, buzz-worthy shows such as “Watchmen,” “Succession,” “Barry” and “The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel” were part of the mix.

Somewhat surprisingly, “Maisel” earned two nominations, one each for both Amy Sherman Palladino and Daniel Palladino, respectively.  That meant directors behind “Russian Doll” and “The Good Place,” among others, were snubbed.  On the drama side, the filmmakers behind “Pose” and “Euphoria” were also overlooked.  We’re going to assume the British directors of “Fleabag,” “Big Little Lies,” “Killing Eve” and “The Crown” did not qualify.

The full list of the DGA Awards nominees in Film can be found here.

Additional DGA nominees in television announced earlier this week can be found here.
